La Mine – Musée du Carreau Wendel, Petite-Rosselle
Dedicated to the extraction of coal, this site has 13 buildings dating from the 19th century to the 1970s. The deepening of the Wendel III shaft started in 1937. The buildings erected around this shaft were designed by the German company GHH. They bring to mind the work done by Peter Behrens, the pioneer of industrial design, through the use of brick laid iron frames that form horizontal strips, and which alternate with windowed strips. This is the only complete complex dating from this period preserved in France today.
